Garage Door Types: Explore Our Range

We started in 1992 as a family-run garage door business, and three decades on, we still design, manufacture and install every custom garage door ourselves. Below is our full range of garage door types, from aluminium and cedar through to fully custom and flush-mount designs, each built on a welded box frame with a lifetime warranty.
We build every type of sectional garage door on this page to handle Auckland’s salt air, sun and wind without losing its shape or colour, and homeowners and trade professionals across New Zealand use this page to compare our garage door types side by side before booking a site measure.
Our Penrose showroom holds physical samples of most garage door options featured here, plus a few styles that haven’t reached the wider market yet. If none of the standard configurations fit your opening or your facade, our custom doors page covers what a fully bespoke design can do.

What Sets Our Garage Door Range Apart

Three Decades
in the Trade

We’ve installed garage doors across Auckland since 1992, working across nearly every style on the market, from classic timber through to modern aluminium.

One Team, Start
to Finish

We handle consultation, design, manufacture and installation ourselves within Auckland, or manufacture and deliver further afield, so you’re not coordinating separate contractors for each stage.

Built to
Your Brief

Aluminium, plexiglass, cedar or a flush-mount design that disappears into your cladding, we manufacture most types of garage doors you can specify, along with a few configurations still on their way to market.

Made for New Zealand's Coast

Our welders and fabricators use materials rated for salt air and shifting weather, so the finish holds its colour and shape through summer heat and winter storms alike.

Choose From Our Range of Garage Doors

Aluminium Garage Doors

Aluminium holds up well against Auckland’s salt-laden air without warping or rusting, which is why it’s one of our most requested garage door types.

  • Low upkeep: the powder-coat finish resists chipping, fading and rust, so a wash usually does the job.
  • Wide customisation: negative detailing, batten profiles or a laser-cut pattern can all go onto an aluminium door.
  • Weather-tested: built to handle Auckland’s shifting climate without losing its shape.

Want the timber look without the recoating? Our Faux Cedar aluminium finish carries the grain and colour of cedar on a low-maintenance aluminium door.

Plexiglass Garage Doors

A Plexiglass garage door lets light into the space behind it, which suits contemporary homes, workshops and commercial fit-outs for a lighter feel.

  • Natural light: cuts down on artificial lighting during the day.
  • Privacy control: clear, tinted or frosted panels, depending on what’s stored behind the door.
  • Modern finish: adds a sleek line to a home or workspace.

Flush Mount Garage Doors

A flush-mount door sits level with the cladding around it, so from the street it reads as part of the wall rather than a traditional garage door look.

  • Clean integration: the door sits flush with surrounding cladding for an uninterrupted facade.
  • Precise fit: every flush-mount door is measured and fitted to its individual opening.
  • Material choice: cedar, aluminium, composite panels or a bespoke cladding to match your build.

Cedar Garage Doors

A cedar garage door brings natural grain and warmth that works on both character villas and newer builds.

  • Timber character: horizontal or vertical configurations, with battens or windows if you’d like them.
  • Finishing choice: stain, oil or paint the door to match your exterior.
  • Upkeep: cedar needs periodic recoating to hold its colour, though most homeowners find the look worth it.

Custom Garage Doors

When a standard configuration won’t fit your opening or your design brief, our custom range covers laser-cut panels, geometric patterns and one-off designs built around your property.

  • Laser-cut detail: text, imagery or patterns cut directly into the panel.
  • Composite cladding: a timber-like appearance with less upkeep than solid timber.
  • Architectural collaboration: we work directly with designers, architects and homeowners on bespoke doors.

Commercial Garage Doors

Car parks, showrooms, gyms and hospitality venues need doors built for constant use, and our commercial range is built for exactly that.

  • Ventilation: mesh or partial laser-cut panels keep air moving through high-traffic spaces.
  • Glass and plexiglass: bring natural light and visibility into commercial spaces.
  • Automation: openers suited to frequent, high-volume use.

Insulated Garage Doors

An insulated garage door keeps the space behind it warmer in winter and cooler in summer, useful if the garage doubles as a workshop, gym or extra living area.

  • Temperature control: holds warmth in winter and keeps heat out in summer.
  • Quieter operation: cuts down on sound transfer, handy near busy streets.
  • Flexible build: insulation can go into timber, aluminium or a custom design.

Prestige's Process: From Site Measure to Install

01

Free Site Measure and Consultation

We start with an obligation-free site measure and consultation. Our consultants assess the opening, including tricky or non-standard sites, and recommend a garage door type that fits your budget and how you’ll use the space.

02

Design and Material Selection

We work with homeowners, builders and architects to settle on the design. Plexiglass, cedar, aluminium or flush mount, we make sure the finished door works with both the opening and the rest of the build.

03

Manufacturing at Our Auckland Facility

Our fabricators build each door in Penrose to your exact measurements, using materials chosen to handle New Zealand’s climate over the long term.

04

Installation and Handover

Our installers coordinate with your build team on-site, and if you’re replacing an old door, we’ll remove and dispose of it as part of the job. You’re left with a door that adds to your home’s security and street presence.
